With more than 25 years of experience in mortgage capital markets, Amy Creason has long understood the importance of diverse perspectives in driving better business outcomes. As a co-founder of CapitalW Collective, she has worked to broaden the representation of women and underrepresented groups within the capital markets segment of the housing industry.
CapitalW Collective was launched at the 2024 MBA Secondary & Capital Markets Conference in response to a clear gap: the continued underrepresentation of women in leadership roles, industry panels and thought leadership within mortgage capital markets. The group has since grown steadily, increasing sponsorship and ally participation by 150% over the past year. Backing from organizations such as Polly, MCT, Citizens Bank and Agile Technologies has played a key role in expanding its reach.
Creason’s efforts have focused heavily on education. Under her leadership, CapitalW has created educational video content, co-developed a secondary marketing module for the MBA’s curriculum and partnered with industry groups to offer discounted learning opportunities. She also plays an active role in building community support, facilitating individual sponsorships and mentorships and working with companies to increase engagement at all levels.
Creason’s work reflects a broader concern about how evolving technology could deepen existing imbalances in the industry. She and her colleagues are committed to building a more inclusive capital markets landscape through education, access and visibility — efforts that continue to attract new partners and participants who see the long-term value in a more representative industry.
