Nykia Wright is leading a transformative era for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), reshaping it into a more agile, resilient, and member-focused organization during a pivotal time in its 116-year history. As CEO, Wright has redefined NAR’s strategy, rebuilt its executive team, modernized operations, and fostered a culture of transparency and member-first service. In her first year as permanent CEO, she achieved balanced budgets for 2025 and 2026 without raising member dues—a first in over a decade—while enhancing the member experience and strengthening industry relationships.
Wright’s career is marked by her role as a bold change agent, adept at guiding legacy organizations through significant transformations. Before joining NAR, she led the Chicago Sun-Times as CEO, navigating financial challenges and facilitating a successful merger with Chicago Public Media. At NAR, Wright has continued to demonstrate her strategic vision and operational rigor, quickly establishing trust among members, industry leaders, and staff.
Over the past year, Wright has restructured NAR’s leadership to emphasize accountability and agility. She led the association to balanced budgets by restructuring the workforce, eliminating 61 positions, and reducing costs across more than 90 programs, all while maintaining core services and priority initiatives. Her hiring of a new CFO has improved data-driven decision-making, optimizing investments and strengthening financial stewardship.
Wright has prioritized redefining the member experience by streamlining internal processes and modernizing governance to foster agile, forward-thinking discussions that help members close more transactions and better serve consumers. Her collaborative approach has strengthened relationships with state and local REALTOR® associations and industry partners, ensuring NAR leads amid rapid industry changes.
