Focus more on the growth than the outcome. When I first started my career, I believed I could solve any problem and was always ready for the next step — next title, the next promotion, the next opportunity — often missing the value of what I was experiencing at the moment. I’ve found that experience and ego have an inverse relationship — as my experience has grown, I’ve become more and more aware of how much I still have to learn about the nuances and intricacies of effective leadership. I’ve come to appreciate that everyone you work with brings something unique to the table — whether it’s caring deeply for team members, collaborating effectively across teams, driving strategic vision, or solving incredibly complex problems.
