Dan Cooper is executive vice president of Capital Markets at Cornerstone Capital Bank, playing a key role in the company’s growth as a mortgage-led organization with full-service banking capabilities. He oversees Secondary Marketing, Servicing, Capital Markets, Product Development, and Construction Lending, driving agility and disciplined growth through volatile markets.
Cooper led the launch of Cornerstone’s Builder Forward program, now supporting more than $5 billion in volume across 25+ builder partnerships. The program prioritizes consumer choice, RESPA compliance, and closing certainty, delivering measurable results for builders and buyers. He also helped design the Community Lending Division, expanding access to homeownership with down-payment assistance, housing counseling, and multilingual borrower support.
Over the past three years, Cooper has managed $25 billion in mortgage servicing rights transfers across 14 transactions, increasing balance sheet flexibility and reinvesting in pricing and borrower experience. He also implemented a modern Hedging and Execution platform, improving pricing accuracy, reducing volatility, and enhancing loan sale efficiency.
His leadership has helped Cornerstone’s mortgage division remain profitable for two consecutive years despite rising rates and margin compression, supported by smart capital allocation and lean operations.
The longest-tenured member of Cornerstone’s Leadership Committee, Cooper is recognized for his mentorship and industry involvement through the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association and the MBA’s Capital Markets Committee. His steady leadership and financial expertise continue to shape Cornerstone’s mission of building sustainable homeownership nationwide.
