Brent Watson is highly respected at Common Securitization Solutions (CSS) for his contributions to the company and its clients. Watson’s career to date has been focused on the mortgage market and securitization where his passion is always apparent. He is a strong leader who values delivering successful solutions for our clients and CSS while being an integral part of the team.

Watson plays a critical role at CSS, serving as the product manager of the Single-Family MBS Platform team. His vast knowledge — spanning business and technology, paired with his product management abilities — is a significant asset to CSS and his own growth potential. Watson began his career at Fannie Mae before accepting a position with Wells Fargo in the corporate trust department prior to joining CSS as the company was launching. Initially leading a team within CSS’s security operations division specialized in collateralized mortgage obligation modeling, he eventually moved to the product management team to expand his skillset. Watson played a pivotal role in the early development of the Common Securitization Platform (CSP), offering insights into modeling, deal structuring and enhancements. 

Over the last 12 months, Watson collaborated internally and with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to craft the 2024 Platform Roadmap and build a Cost & Capacity model on top of the Roadmap Framework. Notably, Watson’s exceptional presentation skills have been crucial to effectively communicate the team’s goals, roadmap, and business strategies. Beyond his professional endeavors, Watson helped found the Big Tree Memorial Fund, where he continues to hold a leadership position, providing vital financial assistance to families with children who have lost a parent to cancer.
