2025 Finance Leader: Amit Arora

Amit Arora

As Opendoor’s chief investment officer, Amit Arora has played a pivotal role in refining the company’s pricing strategy, home acquisitions and portfolio management. Leveraging AI and machine learning, he has helped deliver over 2 million cash offers and complete more than 250,000 transactions across 50 markets nationwide. With a strong background in finance, he holds a BA in Economics from Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School, having previously worked at Goldman Sachs, Bain Capital and Social Capital.

A cornerstone of Opendoor for nearly a decade, Arora has contributed across multiple functions, from product management to investment strategy and business operations. Since being promoted to chief investment officer in 2024, he has driven advancements in Opendoor’s pricing algorithm, bridging the gap between machine learning engineers and real estate experts. His efforts have enhanced algorithmic pricing models by incorporating hundreds of home features, including proximity to busy roads, green spaces and home conditions. He also built the data acquisition team responsible for integrating novel datasets into machine learning models across the company.

Under Arora’s leadership, Opendoor achieved significant growth in third quarter 2024, purchasing 3,504 homes — a 12% increase year-over-year — while generating $1.4 billion in revenue, a 41% jump from Q3 2023. Beyond financial success, he has fostered a culture of collaboration, innovation and inclusivity. His leadership has strengthened team retention, with an average tenure of nearly five years, while expanding Opendoor’s serviceable market to reach more homebuyers and sellers nationwide.
