Raw Application Volume Rises as Household Apps Retreat 

Raw mortgage application volume rose 8.6 percent for the week ending Jan. 30, according to a weekly survey released Wednesday by the Mortgage Bankers Association. The refinance index measuring application volume for refinances  increased 15.8 percent from the previous week — accounting for 73.2 percent of total applications, a rise from the 72.8 percent reported the week before — while the purchase index declined 11.2.
