Tracey Velt: What were some of those early challenges and how did you overcome them?
Michael LaFido: I had limiting beliefs. Some of the most common that agents have is that you have to be licensed X amount of years. Don’t do what I did. I waited 10 years before I really went into upper price points.You don’t have to be licensed X amount of years or be with a certain brokerage or come from money. The worst excuse I hear from agents is I certainly can’t compete in my market because there’s already blank number of luxury agents.
I went through that a little bit myself. I realized as I was training these luxury agents, they weren’t aggressive, they didn’t think outside the box, they didn’t think like marketers, they thought like real estate agents. And so I realized I made the switch with my training consulting company after I had some experience selling luxury and realized there was an opportunity, but more importantly, there was a need for it.
