Here’s a small preview of today’s interview. The transcript below has been lightly edited for length and clarity:
Tracey Velt: . I want to talk about some of the leadership decisions you’ve made in the past. What do you find is your most challenging decision?
Jason Waugh: Sometimes you’ve got to make decisions that are not popular and that negatively impact people in favor of the best interests of the larger organization. That’s always been the toughest part for me personally in a leadership position.
We’re coming out of a market that was the greatest 10-year decade of growth fueled by two unicorn years at the very end. I think, right now, one of the most important attributes is keeping proper perspective of where we are today.
It’s really about being disciplined. It’s about operational excellence, and it’s about spending effectively and making the proper investments. And that’s what we’re committed to as an enterprise, making the right investments for our broker owners and for our sales professionals. So that ultimately, collectively, they can create an exceptional real estate experience for everybody that they serve.
