Cornerstone Capital Bank and its mortgage lending division, Cornerstone Home Lending, have added veteran mortgage executive Daryl Wizelman and The Wizelman Team, expanding the lender’s retail mortgage operations.
Wizelman joins Cornerstone after more than 35 years in mortgage banking and financial services. He was the president and owner of United Pacific Mortgage for more than 17 years, served in several roles at Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp., and was a divisional vice president for CrossCountry Mortgage, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The move reflects Cornerstone’s continued effort to attract experienced mortgage teams seeking a lender with operational resources, technology investments and a people-focused culture, the company said.
“Daryl brings the kind of culture, leadership, experience and service mindset that align with Cornerstone’s Mission, Vision and Convictions,” Adam Laird, vice chairman of Cornerstone Capital Bank and CEO of Cornerstone Home Lending, said in a statement. “His team is known for building strong relationships by putting people first, staying committed to service and finding solutions when others can’t.”
Wizelman said Cornerstone’s emphasis on relationships was a key factor in the decision to join the company.
“In a time where it feels like technology is what everyone is focused on, it’s refreshing to know that a company values the human connection and people helping people,” Wizelman said. “Technology is a key initiative at Cornerstone, but it’s never prioritized above serving one another and helping our borrowers have an amazing mortgage experience.”
Jay Crowell, president of Cornerstone’s national retail division, said the addition strengthens the company’s leadership team.
“Their depth of experience, commitment to serving others and unwavering integrity make us a stronger organization from day one,” Crowell said.
The Wizelman Team also includes production associate Lisa Guillo, loan processing manager Robert Curiel, and loan officers Jason Wizelman, Randy Wagner, Sherrie Clark and Rick Wilson.
