Ryan Metcalf is Vice President of Public Affairs at Flex, where he leads government relations, public policy, communications, and impact initiatives on behalf of the company's mission to improve financial access for the 44 million renters in the United States. With over a decade of experience at the intersection of fintech, lending policy, and strategic communications, he has built a career advocating for equitable access to capital and lending innovation. Prior to Flex, Ryan served as Head of Government Affairs and Communications at Funding Circle US, a leading small business lending platform, where he spent more than five years before the company's acquisition by iBusiness Funding in 2024. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Affirm, the buy now, pay later company founded by Max Levchin, serving as both Chief of Staff and Director of Government Affairs and Communications. Ryan began his career in public service, including as a Special Assistant to the U.S. Trade Representative in the Obama White House, and previously worked on the Obama for America campaign. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of South Florida.
