Cardinal Financial’s Senior Vice President Retail, Caleb Mittelstet, has worked his way to the top during his 20-year career. Mittelstet has seen how great, and not-so-great, leaders have responded to past mortgage cycles and applied those lessons to build his organizations’ retail channels over the years. Mittelstet has become a coach who naturally enjoys deploying his knowledge and resources to help others.

In 2021, Mittelstet began emphasizing the need for branches and MLOs to shift their attention to purchase volume even though rates were still at historic lows. Mittelstet pushed for technology investments to improve digital marketing, operational efficiency and customer experience. In June 2022, in his previous role, his efforts resulted in Planet Home Lending’s retail volume running 14% higher than the industry average.
