  • NAR Offers Realtors Certification for Short Sales, Foreclosures

    Nearly one-third of all existing homes sold in the last three months were either short sales or foreclosures, according to monthly data compiled by the National Association of Realtors (NAR). A survey of NAR members indicated distressed sales -- including short sales and foreclosures -- accounted for 31% of total sales in July and June, down only slightly from 33% in May. In July, 20% of all sales were foreclosures and 11% were short sales, a NAR spokesperson told HousingWire.

  • NAR's numbers proven wrong in New Jersey

    File this under too good to pass up: it turns out the National Association of Realtors got their quarterly sales numbers wrong in New Jersey, and not just by a little bit. On May 13, the NAR's first quarter sales summary was released with the requisite highlighting of those few remaining "pockets of strength" in key metropolitan areas. One such area was New Jersey, which apparently had seen sales jump 4 percent on a year-over-year basis. Except for one problem: they didn't.
