  • RealPage continues growing, set to acquire ClickPay for $218 million

    Acquisition will be company’s fifth since 2017
    RealPage, a provider of software and data analytics to the real estate industry, went on quite the run of acquisitions last year, acquiring four different companies throughout the year. As it turns out, RealPage isn’t done yet. The company announced Friday that it is acquiring ClickPay, an electronic payment platform servicing 2.3 million units across the multifamily, HOA, condominium and co-op segments of real estate, in a $218 million deal.

  • New Service Touts Mortgage Payments by Credit Card

    If borrowers can pay their mortgage via credit card, will they? One company, San Francisco-based ChargeSmart LLC, is betting that the answer is "yes." The company, whose service also targets auto and student loans as well as utility bills, said Wednesday morning that it will allow borrowers to pay their mortgage via a Visa or MasterCard through a network of more than 4,000 billers across the United States.

    Interesting news from my favorite online stock site TheStreet.com, which says that American Home and IndyMac are set to accept American Express for a mortgage payment. Talk about piling debt on top of debt: American Express is "trying to get into recurring payments" by encouraging card members to charge things such as gas bills and rent, says Sanjay Sakhrani, an analyst at Keefe Bruyette & Woods.
