2014 Women of Influence: Debbie Hoffman

AS THE CHIEF legal officer at Digital Risk, Debbie Hoffman has been instrumental in developing the company’s governance, risk, compliance (GRC) solution, a proprietary solution that performs servicer oversight, compliance and surveillance functions required by SIFI’s to remain compliant with new federal regulations.

In addition to developing the company’s new business generation solution, Hoffman also optimized the process to execute complex contracts. She recently developed the model for the company’s new compliance program governing Digital Risk’s parent company’s (Mphasis, a subsidiary of HP) business overseas.

Hoffman significantly reduced costs by restructuring the model of origination licensing, which reduced the need of individual employee licensing, renewals and continuing education, cutting the company’s licensing cost by over 50%. She also spearheaded an intellectual property strategy for the form of registering a variety of protected trademarks and patents.

Hoffman has influenced a generation of law students as a former professor of legal methods at Florida A&M University and Instructor of real estate law at Central Florida University.

Hoffman is also the founder and coordinator of the Digital Risk legal internship program.

A strong supporter of women in the industry, Hoffman has been an integral part of spearheading the Women at the Forefront of Structured Finance Symposium in 2013, the Orlando Women’s Leadership Luncheon in 2013, and participating as a Mentor in Digital Risk’s Women Who Mean Business Mentoring Luncheon in 2014. She is currently organizing a symposium for women in the mortgage industry to be co-sponsored by leading law firm Hunton & Williams.
