Being a Tennessee-based law firm and having its practice entirely within the state of Tennessee, Weiss, Spicer, Cash, PLLC, is totally familiar with Tennessee law, including any local rules and ‘quirks’ that may be unfamiliar to law firms headquartered outside Tennessee.

In the early 1960s, Arnold M. Weiss, a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School and recently admitted to the Tennessee bar, received a phone call from United Mortgages Servicing Corp., a mortgage servicing company located in Virginia Beach, VA, requesting that he foreclose a Tennessee deed of trust. Being a sole practitioner with only part-time secretarial help and anxious for almost any fee-generating referral, Weiss accepted the assignment. This was the beginning of Weiss, Spicer, Cash, PLLC, one of Tennessee’s most respected and experienced law firms having represented secured creditors and mortgage bankers for more than 50 years.
While representation is primarily focused in the area of single-family residential properties, the firm also handles commercial real estate loans. The firm performs all required procedures to complete a foreclosure such as obtaining title policies and/or commitments as well as eviction and recovery of possession actions. The firm is also able to provide services in connection with bankruptcies, pertaining to the filing of proofs of claim and the obtaining of relief from the automatic stays to allow foreclosure.

The firm also has a separate REO closing department and is a Tennessee member of Fannie Mae’s retained attorney network. The experienced staff, most of whom have been with the firm for over 10 years, strictly adhere to following deadlines and court scheduled appointments. It is the policy of the firm to handle every contact with mortgagors in a courteous and respectful manner. Their telephone calls, e-mails and inquiries are regarded as vital to maintaining open lines of communication and therefore the possibility of working with the firm’s clients on loan modifications or repayment plans.

Weiss, Spicer, Cash, PLLC strives to maintain a direct personal relationship with clients. An attorney of the firm is always available by telephone for inquiries and conferences. The firm offers prepared background materials for its clients and conducts on-site seminars and training meetings. It values the opportunity to visit clients at the client’s convenience and assist them in understanding the fast changing arena of the nation’s housing finance crisis in which attorneys and mortgage servicers work together.
