Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) is holding home preservation workshops in Detroit next week to help homeowners in the foreclosure-ridden metropolitan area. The mortgage giant is hosting customers of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Wells Fargo Financial, Wachovia and Wells Fargo Home Equity at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn-Detroit on April 19 and April 20. Representatives from the company’s Home Preservation Workshop will present homeowners who are delinquent or close to delinquent available options for their home mortgages. “Wells Fargo wants our customers to succeed financially and helping them stay in their homes is one of our top priorities,” said Russ Cross, regional servicing director with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. “This workshop will offer homeowners who are facing payment challenges the opportunity to meet face to face with a representative to find options available for them.” The event will bring 100 home retention team members to Detroit to work with struggling homeowners. Detroit is already becoming a model city for urban renewal efforts, with home preservation specialists already trying to improve foreclosures in the city. The Motor City also remains plagued by high unemployment. Write to Kerri Panchuk.
