S&P climbs to record high thanks to jobless data

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 0.4% to 1,560 while the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed about 61 points, or 0.4%, extending its record high Thursday. 

“It’s a little bit more fuel on the fire,” said Jeffrey Davis, chief investment officer at Lee Munder Capital Group.
