RMS Co-Founder Launches New Efforts In Cancer Awareness Campaign

Co-founder of Reverse Mortgage Solutions Bob Yeary is today devoting some of his time, effort as well as financial resources to raising cancer awareness, following the sale of the company for which he now serves as chairman emeritus.

Specifically, Yeary has established a foundation in the memory of his late wife, Nancy Yeary, whom he lost to ovarian cancer three years ago.

In an effort to raise not only awareness, but also funding for gynecological cancer research, Yeary, through work with Dr. Paul Micha of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, has established the Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation, an organization that is working toward a cure for gynecologic cancer.

Yeary’s contributions have been made possible in part through his sale of RMS to Walter in late 2012, he says.

The organization is a major sponsor of a Washington, D.C. Globe-athon walk on Sunday, September 29, led by team captain Dr. Larry Maxwell, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Co-Principal Investigator of the Women’s Health Integrated Research Center (WHIRC) at Inova Health System.

The event anticipates more than 500 participants from more than 80 countries worldwide, and is using funds raised to sponsor free cancer screenings.

The foundation currently is welcoming donations via its website, Yeary has committed to matching the first $500,000 in donations received.

“Ovarian cancer is a silent killer,” Yeary says, “but the more you talk about it, the more you find you know someone who’s affected by this too. We hope to raise money and get the word out, and work toward a cure.”
