Zillow expands rental tools

Online real estate marketplace Zillow Inc. (Z) is rolling out Zillow Rentals, a new online marketplace designed specifically for property managers, agents and landlords that deal with rental properties.

The new marketplace, which offers tools for professionals in this space, comes at a time when the rental market is the craze with more families and individuals turning to rentals in the aftermath of the real estate meltdown.

The new Zillow platform includes rental listings, a spot for managing listings and lead generation as well as leasing tools such as online credit screening.

Essentially, the site allows parties to complete rental applications from a browser or a mobile device — a handy tool for those conducting property tours. The new platform also gives professionals in the space marketing tools to use when reaching out to current or potential renters.

“Zillow is the most visited real estate website on desktops and on mobile, and also one of the most visited rental sites. We have been aggressively expanding into software tools for real estate professionals in order to become more critical to their workflow and productivity,” said Spencer Rascoff, Zillow CEO. “The RentJuice acquisition four months ago laid the foundation for this expansion in rentals, and today’s announcement brings us one step closer toward our vision of rewiring the rental industry.”
