Wisconsin receives $143.6 million from mortgage settlement

More than 3,000 Wisconsin borrowers will receive more than $143.6 million in loan-related relief, according to a press release from Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen Wednesday.

Each borrower will receive about $47,000 from the national mortgage settlement, a $25 billion joint federal-state agreement with the nation’s five largest mortgage services over foreclosure abuses and fraud, and unacceptable nationwide mortgage servicing practices.
