The Washington Post goes heavy on real estate with MLS partnership

Newspaper giant The Washington Post is working with the Metropolitan Regional Information Services (MRIS) real estate listing platform to provide its washingtonpost.com users with rich and timely real estate listings.

The search mechanism lets the paper’s online users set up alerts. Once users create a profile with The Washington Post real estate section online, the MLS system e-mails them updates every time a preferred home listing is added to the database.

The partnership will establish the paper as a go-to provider of real estate listings in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

The MRIS platform, which offers listings in the Mid-Atlantic region, currently fosters $103 million real estate transactions on a daily basis.

The listings will be used to add content to the newspaper’s online real estate section.

“Our goal is to provide an extraordinary real estate resource for consumers which pairs expert reporting from The Washington Post with access to the same real-time listing data from MRIS that real estate professionals use and trust,” said Michael Cirrito, director of classifieds for The Washington Post. “This creates a dynamic real estate search experience that is truly local, giving users one destination for the latest news and information to help them through the home-buying or selling process.”
