Virgina mortgage borrowers receive $33M in deal

More than 22,500 Virginia mortgage borrowers whose houses were foreclosed will receive checks this week for about $1,480 each as part of a national settlement with the nation’s five largest mortgage lenders, Richard Times-Dispatch writes.

The $33 million in total payouts are to compensate borrowers for abuses by lenders, said Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who helped negotiate the settlement.
