Treasuries gain, pushing yields to almost record lows

U.S. Treasuries rose for a third straight day, pushing yields to near their lowest of the year, amid concern about raising the debt ceiling. U.S. stocks erased early losses as retailers gained, while the yen rebounded.

Yields on 10-year notes declined three basis points to 1.82 percent as of 1:39 p.m. in New York. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was little changed at 1,470 after slipping as much as 0.5 percent earlier, while the Dow Jones Transportation Average surged to a record.
