Real estate contest yields 2,000 open houses

Santa Ana, Calif.-based Atlantic & Pacific Real Estate announced the winners of its Open House Contest. The contest, which was held October through November, was an attempt to push business during the holiday months, which are traditionally considered slow for real estate.

The initiative yielded an estimated 2,000 open house events by the company’s agents through the country within an eight-week span.

For each open house held, an agent was given a ticket to enter into a random drawing for $5,000. The grand-prize winners were agent Cindie Karlzian and her manager Barbara Simmons.

“Some people think open houses don’t work, but I require my agents to hold a minimum of two open houses every week,” Simmons noted. “The reason is simple: open houses help agents make more money. And what agent doesn’t want to make more money?”

Winners Karlzian and Simmon were picked at the company’s annual Leadership Summit in Irvine, Calif.
