The problem with long foreclosure timelines

Banks taking incredibly long amounts of time to foreclose on properties are taking their toll on local neighborhoods. A recent story in the Orlando Sentinel provides an in-depth look at the problems taking place in one corner of the Sunshine State.

The story covers the development of vacant property registries, as well — many cities have instituted these for-fee registries under the auspices of tracking who to call when a property slips into disrepair. Orlando doesn’t have one in place, yet.

Orlando Code Enforcement Officer Mike Rhodes is quoted in the story as saying his staff already knows who to contact, making a registry somewhat of an unneccesary step.
