Non-judges can now hear foreclosure cases in Florida

Florida’s court system is tired of facing foreclosure backlogs, a situation that prompted the Florida Supreme Court to take the controversial step of approving magistrates to hear foreclosure cases to clear the dockets, the Palm Beach Post reported.

The Florida Supreme Court made that decision, approving one of the recommendations of the Foreclosure Initiative Workgroup — a committee of judges and court administrators that formed to deal with the foreclosure situation that’s currently overburdening the state’s courts.
