NewDay hires president of VA mortgages

NewDay Financial hired Gavin Brady as president of its Veterans Affairs Mortgage Division. In his new position, Brady oversees all sales and operations activities related to the VA division, including originations among the company’s retail branch network and day-to-day operations. Doug Douglas, who was recently hired as the firm’s chief financial officer, said NewDay originates about $25 million to $30 million in VA loans a month. Brady has more than 30 years of experience in mortgage banking. Prior to joining NewDay, he served as senior vice president at Financial Freedom, a subsidiary of OneWest Bank that specializes in reverse mortgages. During his tenure there, Brady was responsible for the retail reverse mortgage business, which included 300 field sales agents. Brady said he is excited to join and lead NewDay’s efforts in expanding the company’s mortgage origination operations tied to government programs. “As the company expands its presence and heightens its focus on VA and other government loan programs, we have a remarkable opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of this organization,” Brady commented. NewDay Financial is a nationwide VA, Federal Housing Administration and reverse mortgage lender. In 2010, NewDay Financial was among the top 10 providers of reverse mortgages in the country.
