MGIC writes $2 billion in new insurance in May

Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp. (MGIC) wrote $2 billion in new primary mortgage insurance during the month of May, up from $1.7 billion in April.

During the same month, the mortgage insurer reduced the number of loans in its primary delinquent inventory from 156,698 delinquent loans to 154,973 loans by month’s end.  

The insurer experienced 10,907 new notices in May, 8,537 less cures, 3,801 paid off loans and 294 rescissions and denials.
