Innkeepers USA Trust, a real estate investment trust with an interest in 73 hotels across the US, filed for bankruptcy protection. The Palm Beach, Florida-based company and its affiliates in bankruptcy owe creditors more than $1bn, according to Chapter 11 documents filed today in US Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan.
