Illinois’ Quinn signs bill to speed up foreclosures

Senate Bill 16, which took almost two years to pass, allows a lender to file a court motion seeking expedited foreclosure proceedings on single-family homes and multifamily buildings with six or fewer units that are not legally occupied. It will shorten the length of time for foreclosure on those properties to 90 to 180 days, from a current average of 600 days.
