Gallup’s job creation index scored at +20 in April, making it the highest since the poll started tracking job hires in early 2008, when it was at +26.
The poll reported 36% of workers nationwide saying their employers are hiring and looking to expand their workforce and 16% saying their employers are letting workers go and cutting down the size of their workforce.
Job creation typically improves in April, which might be a factor for the positive index, therefore the numbers point to “job implications in the short term” but not necessarily a major improvement in unemployment, according to Gallup.
