Fannie Mae director of supplier diversity to speak at REO Expo

The time is nearly upon us: REO Expo 2012 kicks off on June 12. New offerings this year are designed to give REO agents and brokers a leg up on the competition.

The National Association of Women REO Brokerages is set to host its first-ever certification training at the expo. It will feature Fannie Mae‘s Michael Ruiz. The training will talk about various diversity-related certifications for government contracting such as the women-owned business certification and the historically underutilized business zone, or HUBZone, certification.

Ruiz is director of supplier diversity for Fannie Mae and is responsible for increasing Fannie Mae’s use of diverse suppliers and ensuring compliance with the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.

NAWRB’s “Ready Set Certify” session is specifically designed for women business owners who want to know how certification fits into the overall revenue picture, but it is open to all REO Expo attendees. Ruiz will teach agents how to diversify their businesses using certification, help with the application process, and provide post-certification tips.

The event is Friday, June 15, during the final day of HousingWire’s REO Expo 2012.

NAWRB President Desiree Patno also is scheduled to speak on an REO Expo panel about diversity in real estate and selling property in a multicultural world.
