Fannie Mae CEO names general counsel replacement

Fannie Mae CEO and former general counsel Timothy Mayopoulos appointed Bradley Lerman executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary Tuesday.

Lerman will assume his new duties on Oct. 1.

Lerman is taking over the general counsel role left vacant by Mayopoulos when he moved into the top CEO role after serving as general counsel, executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

Lerman is coming from Pfizer where he served as senior vice president, associate general counsel and chief litigation counsel.

“Brad has extraordinary experience and he will be a great addition to our team,” said Timothy Mayopoulos, president and chief executive officer at Fannie Mae. “Brad has integrity, excellent leadership skills and a proven track record in achieving positive outcomes for corporations across a broad spectrum of legal specialties.”

At Pfizer, Lerman led the company’s product and commercial litigation group. He also handled government investigations and patent litigation teams.

He formerly served Winston & Strawn as partner and co-chair of its white-collar defense practice group and served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Northern District of Illinois.
