Regulators overseeing mortgage loan officer standards in Washington D.C. announced the region plans to adopt the National SAFE Mortgage Loan Officer test on Oct. 1. 

Washington D.C. will be the 36th region to stop requiring a state-specific test component for mortgage loan officers. 

Virginia and Maryland, which already adopted the uniform test, surround the distric. 

The test first launched in April, with 26 states agreeing to utilize it.
