Chief executive officers of major U.S. companies called for members of Congress to put their politics aside and come up with a plan that includes tax increases and cuts to programs like Social Security and Medicaid, according to Reuters.
The CEOs sat for a roundtable discussion and pushed back at both parties fiscal philosophies. Nasdaq CEO Robert Greifeld said there will have to be shared pain as America rights its fiscal course.
The members of the roundtable discussion said Congress will have to raise taxes on the wealthy and cut federal benefit programs such as Medicare and Social Security.
