Here are 2016Õ top 10 most popular homes for sale

Hint: No. 1 is the country’s biggest fixer-upper

The real estate website realtor.com recently tallied up all the clicks on their site for 2016 and discovered the top 10 most popular houses in 2016.

Many of these homes have ties to movies or significant events, while a few draw the curious for other reasons, according to an article by Eric Gunther on realtor.com. However, that attention did not always translate to a good selling price, or any sale at all.

10. The ‘Amityville Horror’ house, 108 Ocean Ave, Amityville, New York

Price: Listed for $850,000, entered into contract in November

Why: This home was the site of gruesome murders in the early 1970s, making the house famous for being “haunted.”

9. The Connecticut castle, 450 Brickyard Rd, Woodstock, Connecticut

Price: Listed for $39 million, pulled from market

Why: This home made the list of most popular homes for the third year in a row. It’s castle-like structure is enough to make anyone click on the home to see more.

8. The ‘Silence of the Lambs’ house, 8 Circle St, Perryopolis, Pennsylvania

Price: Sold for $195,000

Why: This home was featured in the film The Silence of the Lambs about a serial killer/cannibal, and sold at a significant discount from the listing price of $249,000.

7. The beer can hoarder house, 108 Freese Dr, Sanger, Texas

Price: Listed for $89,900, currently in sale-pending status

Why: This home featured photos of its owner’s love for beer as hundreds or even thousands of cans of Natural Light filled the floors.

6. The $150 million spec mansion, 301 N Carolwood Dr, Los Angeles, California

Price: Sold for $100 million

Why: This home was created as an over-the-top spec home, and bought by billionaire Tom Gores.

5. The cave dwelling, Undisclosed address, Festus, Missouri

Price: Listed for $314,900

Why: This home is a cave-based dwelling that was built on the site of a former roller-skating rink.

4. Lenny Kravitz’s former French Quarter home, 612 Dauphine St, New Orleans, Louisiana

Price: Sold for $1.05 million

Why: This home is only one bedroom, but was designed and decorated by rock star Lenny Kravitz.

3. Les Miles’ (former?) home, 2733 Cedar Lodge Dr, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Price: Listed for $1.8 million, taken off the market

Why: Louisiana State University football coach Les Miles put his home on the market after being unceremoniously dumped by LSU. The home attracted many SEC football fans.

2. The ‘Full House’ house, 1709 Broderick St, San Francisco, California

Price: Sold for $4 million

Why: The home used in this sitcom, which just made a comeback on Netflix this year, was bought by the show’s creator, Jeff Franklin.

1. The country’s biggest fixer-upper, 2354 County Road 59, Manvel, Texas

Price: Listed for $3.6 million

Why: This home is in a suburb outside of Houston, and is the nation’s largest fixer-upper. At more than 60,000 square feet, the home is only 70% complete.
