Mexican singer sues Wells Fargo, says employees stole $400,000

Wells Fargo says will only reimburse $250,000

Ana Barbara, a famous singer of Latin music, is suing Wells Fargo after she claims two of the employees stole about $400,000 from her, according to an article by CBS Los Angeles.

She is suing Wells Fargo because the bank refuses to reimburse her more than $250,000 since she waited over 60 days to produce the bank statements showing the unauthorized transfers, according to the article.

From the article:

Her lawyer says the statements never got to Barbara — the thieves made sure of that.

“It’s particularly egregious when it is the bank that is responsible for the consumer not getting the statements and having the opportunity to review the statements,” McRae said.

Wells Fargo responded with a short written statement which says “We are not able to comment on customer relationships or ongoing litigation.”

“This shouldn’t happen to anybody,” Barbara said in Spanish. She says the incident has destroyed her trust. “And that is horrible,” she said.

The bank said the two employees named in the lawsuit are no longer employed by Wells Fargo, the article stated.
