LERETA acquires APG to expand title services

Delivers tax information in real time

LERETA, a national real estate tax services and flood services provider and 2015 HousingWire power player, just acquired American Property Guard, a company based in Dallas which offers tax certificates and homeowner's association reports to the title industry.

“As the founder of APG, I could not be more pleased than to team up with LERETA,” APG Founder Andrew Kernan said. “Introducing a disruptive technology to the origination property tax space has been an exciting accomplishment that has been very well received in the title industry.”

“With the support of LERETA, our technology will now be able to reach its full potential and expand to additional verticals in the housing sector,” Kernan said.

Kernan founded APG in 2012 to automate property inquiries. The company developed and launched a new application that automates the location of a property’s county account information and acquires associated data from taxing authorities.

The system delivers real-time tax information, and is integrated with a title origination software platform, allowing for the ordering of tax information directly within the title origination workflow.

“We’re excited about the acquisition of APG,” LERETA CEO John Walsh said. “First, we gained great staff and exciting new technology. Second, this acquisition will helps us to expand into the title services business. We view the APG acquisition as another step forward in our commitment to providing better solutions to the tax service industry.”

In 2014, the LERETA also acquired the real estate tax services business of QBE. QBE is a leading provider of lender-placed and residential property insurance.

Later on that year, the company acquired Texas-based Industry Consulting Group, a property tax services company.
