The best companies to work for in housing

Looking for a job?

Two names that are bounced around the housing industry the most, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, also hold the coveted title of being two of the top finance companies to work for. And they weren’t the only housing companies to make the list.

Business Insider released its annual list of the best companies in America to work for. The list was created using data from the employer-information website PayScale.

PayScale used six criteria to rank companies that appeared on the 2014 Fortune 500 list: high job satisfaction, low job stress, ability to telecommute, high job meaning, experienced median pay/total cash compensation and salary delta.

Sneaking into the ninth spot, Fannie Mae posted a 60% high job satisfaction rate, 48% high job meaning rate and offers $115,000 for median experienced pay. The pay rate was the second highest on the list.

Of course, Fannie’s brother Freddie made the list, too, coming in as the third-best company to work for. Freddie reported a 60% high job satisfaction rate, 57% high job meaning rate and offers $100,000 median experienced pay.

But the enterprises weren’t the only two names in housing that made the list. Genworth Financial (GNW) recorded an 85% high job satisfaction rate, 56% high job meaning rate and offers $82,400 median experienced pay. And rightfully so, since according to the insurance company’s recent earnings report, its mortgage insurance business is performing well.
