Armed Realtor freezes during sexual assault

But she is not giving up the fight

A real estate agent in Gilbert, Arizona was attacked and groped during an open house on March 12 after the suspect walked in and claimed to be a prospective homebuyer, an article in Fox 10 News stated.

The article explained that the real estate agent came forward because she is afraid the guy will strike again in the Phoenix area.

After groping her, he took her business cards and fliers and walked out.

The Realtor later voiced massive amounts of regret over her lack of a reaction, despite taking all the right steps to appropriately defend herself:

"Humiliated, embarrassed that I let that happen to me, I know how to protect myself, I know how to box, I've taken self defense courses, I had mace with me, I had a knife with me, I didn't use any of it," said the victim to Fox 10 News.

She's now fighting back by telling her story, hoping to stop this guy from hurting another Realtor.

Another veteran Realtor in the state of Arizona told ABC 15 that these threats against real estate agents appear to be growing.

"I had a would-be attacker chase me down into a basement," real estate agent Julie Morris told ABC 15. Morris got away but it changed the way she does business. "You never know when something could go bad so I now myself am armed," she says.

Morris told the ABC affiliate she now carries a Taser, mace and has a safety app for Realtors on her phone.

The Arizona Realtor situation is an unfortunate reminder that these incidents can quickly turn into a tragedy.

Back in September, the case of Crye-Leike Realtor Beverly Carter, 49, of Scott, Arkansas, took over the headlines when she went missing after showing a foreclosed home to a client she had not met before.

The search for Beverly Carter ended shortly after the news broke when her body was found in a shallow grave about 25 miles north of Little Rock.
