New Mexico AG halts deceptive foreclosure ads

A California law firm is facing the wrath of New Mexico's Attorney General Gary King after he halted misleading ads promoting a national mortgage hotline, according to New Mexico TV station KOB.

The station reported on a settlement between the firm and the AG on Tuesday, noting the following:

Granite Law ran radio ads earlier this year offering a "National Mortgage Helpline." These ads failed to include any notice that they were attorney advertising. Granite paid $25,000 to settle such claims and agreed to cease advertising in New Mexico for at least three years.  Granite did not admit to any liability by entering into the Assurance of Discontinuance.
