Perspectives on U.S. unemployment vary

Today’s initial jobless claims has led to some interesting analysis of the numbers. Anthony Sanders at Confounded Interest notes that while initial claims are falling, the U-6 measure is not. And Floyd Norris over at the NY Times is emphatically arguing that the hullaballoo over the labor participation rate is overheated nonsense.
