Here's the latest on the business professionals making waves in real estate and mortgage

People Movers are updates about the business professionals making waves in the housing and mortgage industries.

Chris Morton

The American Land Title Association announced Chris Morton as its senior vice president of public affairs.

Prior to joining the American Land Title Association, Morton was the executive vice president, government affairs and business strategy at the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting for 10 years. Morton has held influential positions in legislative undertakings over the years such as the Dodd-Frank Act, Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and SECURE Act, to name a few.

Morton also brings experience in senior roles at Fannie Mae and the Federal Housing Finance Board, the predecessor of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as well as national level for members of Congress, Cabinet officials and in nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.

“Chris is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the financial services and public affairs arena,” said Diane Tomb, ALTA’s chief executive officer. “His experience championing strategic initiatives, creating strong partnerships and collaborative approach will enhance ALTA’s policy and public affairs efforts. Chris has demonstrated success in numerous legislative and regulatory leadership roles, and we are excited to have him join the ALTA family.”

Ben Sherman

Document recording company SYNRGO named Ben Sherman as its president and chief operating officer at the company’s Brea, California office.

Previously, Sherman was the vice president of business development at Old Republic Title and ePN, where he guided business development, sales, management, and growth initiatives for more than eight years.

SYNRGO Chairman and CEO Karl Klessig said Sherman will manage the company’s next phase of growth.

“The expansion of our existing business as well as the discovery of new growth areas have created a significant opportunity to broaden the team,” Klessig said. “After I led the team that introduced electronic recording to the mortgage industry, my next goal was to put in place the technology and service professionals that will take the industry to the next level. It’s an exciting opportunity to now have Ben join our team and help drive the success of SYNRGO.”
