Obama nominates Metsger for NCUA Board

President Barack Obama announced his intention to nominate Rick Metsger, a past credit union volunteer and former state senator in Oregon, to a term on the National Credit Union Association Board.

According to the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, Metsger, a Democrat, previously served in Oregon’s senate from 1999 to 2011.

“In recent years, the board has had to deal with very difficult issues. The board will need to continue to tackle those issues and more in the coming years,” said NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker. “Upon his confirmation, we look forward to working with him and the NCUA Board and staff on behalf of our members to promote a positive regulatory environment for credit unions.”
