Obama: Agreement is ‘in sight’

President Barack Obama said an agreement to prevent a middle class tax hike was “in sight” Monday, but more work needed to be done before the midnight deadline to avoid the “fiscal cliff.”

“Over the next 12 hours, let’s see if we can get this done,” Obama said in an early afternoon statement from the White House, where he stood in front of cheering supporters.
