Newland promotes three, names new CEO

New CEO has spent almost half of his career at Newland

Real estate company Newland has made three promotions within the company, naming a new chief executive officer and two new regional presidents. 

Ted Nelson has been promoted from president and chief operating officer to CEO. Bob McLeod, the founder of Newland who had been serving as CEO will become the executive chairman.

Nelson has over four decades of experience in residential and mixed-use land development, with 16 of those years at Newland. 

“Ted has a wealth of experience in community development. With an incredible passion and knowledge for our business, Ted brings the balance of creating a sense of place with the financial responsibilities of building a sustainable community,” McLeod said. “Ted’s new role reflects our confidence in him as a leader and operator of Newland to direct the company into the future.”

With almost two decades of experience, Alex McLeod has been promoted to regional president after serving as senior vice president and division manager in Tampa, Florida, and Atlanta. 

After serving as senior vice president and division manager in Austin, Texas, and Raleigh, North Carolina, Bill Meyer has also been promoted to regional president. Meyer has over 30 years of experience.
