Essent Guaranty, a Pennsylvania-based mortgage insurance company, has raised an additional $100m in private capital and begun issuing policies, according to an announcement. Essent is the newest player in the relatively exclusive mortgage insurance industry. There are only six other active private mortgage insurers in the country, and two of those are based in the Triad: United Guaranty in Greensboro and Republic Mortgage Insurance Co. in Winston-Salem.
