Mortgage Contracting Services appoints Phelps CIO

Mortgage Contracting Services named Tod Phelps chief information officer to develop a new strategy for firm’s information technology initiatives.

Mortgage Contracting Services is a property inspections, preservation and real estate-owned management firm based in Tampa, Fla.

In April, Frank Elmore, a former IT program director at U.S. Central Command Headquarters, became the company’s first CIO. The reason for his departure is unclear.

Phelps founded Six Cents Consulting, which provided business and e-commerce consulting for companies such as Volvo. Phelps became CIO for Volvo Construction Equipment in North America and then for Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks. He also served on the advisory board for software company Decisiv.

“Technology has become so critical to the effectiveness of field services, not only in how it is used within organizations but also in how we execute on behalf of clients and work with our vendor network,” said MCS Chief Executive Caroline Reaves. “We are eager to have Tod jump in and advise how we can only improve the processes already established.”

In August, Reaves told HousingWire (video) MCS is working to expand into mortgage origination products and services.
