MGIC writes $2.2 billion in new mortgage insurance

Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp. (MTG) wrote $2.2 billion in new primary mortgage insurance for the month of September.  

That is in line with numbers from August and July, but somewhat lower than July’s report of $2.4 billion in new insurance.

The company had 150,388 loans in its delinquent inventory at the beginning of the month, a figure that dropped to 148,885 by month’s end.

During the interim period, the insurer experienced 11,308 new notices 8,764 cures, 3,790 paid off loans and 257 rescissions and denials.
